Vini Veneti first online virtual wine tasting event, Friday 18th June 2021

On Friday 18th July we held our first ever virtual wine tasting experience, over Zoom and I have to say it was a resounding success, enjoyed by everyone.

We held it prior to the England Scotland football match and it certainly proved to be the highlight of the evening, with all guests tasting some fantastic wines and hopefully learning a little about the wines as well.

The evening was hosted by Ben Ryan Davies and he linked everything together perfectly. We had the winery, Agricola Cottini, live from their Valpolicella wine cellar accompanied by Gabriele, Vini Veneti’s co founder. We tasted 3 different wines, a sparkling Rosé, a Custoza white wine and finally a Valpolicella Ripasso red wine. Our guests were invited to hold up a tasting card with their comments and tasting notes on before the winery had their say with the official tasting notes. Wine is of course very subjective as to how people interpret the taste and of course what people like. I am so pleased to report that everyone liked all of the wines and some of the white wine drinkers fell in love with the red wine.

We had a light hearted quiz about all things wine and 2 lucky participants won a nice bottle each. We then had a question and answer session with the winery that gave everyone the opportunity to ask a range of questions of them, which was well received and really interesting.

Laura Cottini, when asked what made their wines different to the mass produced ones that we see in Supermarkets, answered as follows “we take care of the grapes all the way through the process of winemaking. From the Vine, the flower, the grape, the pressing, the maturation and the bottling. All from our own land and in our own winery. This ensures only the best quality wine is produced every year”

I think this absolutely sums up what makes our wines different to a lot of others being imported. Small production, family owned and producing wines with grapes only grown on their own estates.
